This tiger maple slant top desk is a showpiece of classic Chippendale elements with pigeonhole assembly. These include the bracket feet, fall front lid, pigeonholes, half-blind dovetails on top and traditional-style brass hardware. The secondary wood is pine.
Lovely design and beautiful execution. I might have gone with bright brasses and 1:8 dovetails, but those are quibbles. I’d like to see more early American projects on the show. The colonial revival needs reviving; young people conditioned to cheap furniture have never learned about Chippendale, Queen Anne, or Federal design.
Your web page needs to make clearer what you’re all about for someone who (sorry) has never heard of you. Do you sell plans, kits, finished pieces only, what …..?
I was browsing for kits for a colonial slant-top desk. Your chippendale piece looks like what I’d like, but there’s no more information.
