If you own a First Alert ONELINK Battery-Powered Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms, check out the US Consumer Products Safety Council website for information on the recall of these products. The word is, the units drain their batteries rapidly, resulting in premature low-battery warnings and eventual loss of power. Over 50,000 of these units were sold to consumers. Those who own such a unit can have a replacement sent, but until it arrives they are advised to test their unit weekly for low batteries and change them if needed. Consumers are warned NOT to remove a faulty alarm until a new one is sent.
