Long time On The Level blog readers may remember the story about the man who converted his apartment into something out of Star Trek. Well, my jaw just about hit the floor when I read it sold for five times the price of other units in his building. The final price after a bidding war erupted was 425,000 British pounds (around $950,000 in American dollars). Not a bad return on investment in a 500 square foot apartment. But don’t think this project was a cakewalk, it took homeowner Tony Alleyne two years and 30,000 British pounds (around $60,000 American) to complete. While it wasn’t something I can endorse for everyone, Alleyne’s project was an inspired vision for transforming his living space and it paid off.
