Some people never outgrow building with their Legos, and that goes double for Eric Harshbarger. Since leaving his programming job in 1999, he’s been working as a professional Lego sculptor for the past seven years. While most of his works are free standing sculptures, his full-size, functional desk made entirely of 35,000 Legos is the item that caught my attention. Talk about DIY. No one will ever accuse Eric of not being meticulous. The desk has seven working drawers, weighs about 120 pounds, and required about seven pounds of glue. Creation of the desk required several weeks and included one episode where the desk needed to be disassembled and reassembled for shipping. You can read more about Eric’s experience on his website.
