Air conditioners are the big electricity hogs of summer and with recent temperatures in the triple digits across much of the South, heat-weary residents are pushing their AC to the max. Georgia Power has released a sheet of energy-saving tips to help all consumers meet raging power demands. Top tips include changing the filter on your air conditioner regularly, checking windows and doors for a tight fit, and increasing attic insulation to prevent heat buildup and heat transfer. There was one point of contention, however, that sparked spirited debate in the office—do fans run counterclockwise in the summer or clockwise to keep the cool air at ground level? The debate rages on, even on our Fix-it Forum. To date, I’ve seen compelling arguments on both sides. Anyone have the definitive answer?
