The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Jardine Cribs has announced a recall of about 320,000 cribs. The wooden crib slats and spindles can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants. The cribs were sold at KidsWorld, Geoffrey Stores, Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores nationwide and at babiesrus.com from January 2002 through May 2008 for between $150 and $300 with one model, 0309K00 Mahogany Positano Lifetime Crib, sold for $450. The following model numbers are involved in the recall: BC-23, BC-36B, BC-36G, BC-36P, BC-007, BC-010, BC-010C, BC-010HP, BC-010W, BC-017, BC-107C, BC-107CR, BC-110C, BC-110HP, BC-110W, DA617BC, DA620BC, DA770BC, DV730N, DV730W, DV830-N, DV830-W, 0113B00, 0113K00, 0303B00, 0303C00, 0303G00 and 0309K00. The model number is printed on the inside of the bottom rail of the headboard or footboard. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Jardine at 1-800-646-4106 to receive a full credit toward the purchase of a new crib.
