A house built to resemble a nautilus is not your everyday home, but that’s what one couple did in Mexico City. With the help of architect Javier Senosiain and his concept of bioarchitecture, the home was built in 2006 and now houses the couple and their two small children. Using ferrocement construction methods (basically a chicken wire framework with cement poured over it), the home is fireproof, earthquake-safe and maintenance-free. It features an open concept floor plan, smooth surfaces and a spiral staircase. The building of the future? Maybe.
