A recall of GE Ranges was recently announced because wiring in the rear of the range can overheat and poses a fire hazard. No injuries have been reported although there are 33 reports of units catching fire. The recall affects about 28,000 units, the GE Profile 30″ Freestanding Duel Fuel range. Model numbers beginning with J2B900 with serial numbers beginning with LD, MD, RD, SD, TD, VD, ZD, AF, DF, FF, GF, HF, LF, MF and model numbers beginning with J2B915 and serial numbers beginning with MF, RF, SF, TF, VF, ZF, AG, DG, FG, GG, HG, LG, MG, RG, SG, TG, VG, ZG are affected. The units were sold nationwide from June 2002 through December 2005. Affected consumers should stop using the oven immediately and contact GE at (888) 352-9764 for a free repair. Consumers can continue to use the cooktop burners.
