Propane dealers quietly reduced the amount of gas they put in tanks from approximately 17 to 18 pounds down to 15 pounds. Trouble is, they are charging the same amount for it and didn’t tell anyone. “It’s a price increase,” retired lawyer Stuart Barr said in this AP news story. Propane dealers cite the increase in the price of oil in 2008 as the cause. But since then the price has fallen and the tanks have stayed at the inflated price. It is not clear if dealers plan to return to the same levels as before.
