While the housing crisis has a lot of people hurting, there have been some beneficiaries. In this case, the homeless. The city of Brooklyn is now renting several luxury condos that failed to sell for use as a homeless shelter. The units come complete with granite countertops, terraces and walk-in closets. Newly arrived residents are thrilled with the arrangement. “It’s the nicest place I’ve ever lived in,” said one. But some neighbors are less than thrilled. “I’m a hardworking taxpayer, and I don’t think homeless people should be living better than me,” said one person who had hoped to rent one of the apartments. What do you think?
