Unfortunately, many municipalities rely on previously assessed values and have not updated their records to reflect the new market reality. LowerMyAssessment.com allows homeowners to compare their home’s assessed value with current market estimates. If the homeowner find they are overpaying, they can file a dispute with forms provided on the site for a $125 fee. The company is still an early stage start-up launched in April 2009 so they do not yet have success metrics for homeowners filing disputes. The site currently services homeowners in Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
