Feeling that Holiday spirit of giving? Not sure who to help? Well look no further. We’re highlighting 10 worthy, national charities and encouraging everyone to give what they can.

Welcome to the sixth installment in our 10-part Charity Blog Series.

We’ve all seen the “Be The Change You Wish to See in the World” bumper stickers stuck to the back of cars driven by what we imagine to be town altruists and philanthropists. Appreciating (and displaying) Mahatma Gandhi’s words are one thing, but taking action inspired by them is another. “Where to begin?” you might ask. I’ve asked it, too.

HandsOn Network — a national charity — has adopted Gandhi’s directive and made it easier than ever to answer the above question. With their network of over 250 “Action Centers” across the country, HandsOn matches willing volunteers with worthy local projects and programs. A quick search for an Action Center near you, narrowed down by “Impact Area” (e.g. Arts & Culture, Health, Human Services, etc.) will give a selfless spirit a little direction and guidance and help contribute to the more than 30 million hours of service provided by HandsOn volunteers annually. Do a quick search for HandsOn volunteer opportunities in your area to see how you can make a difference.

Or if you’d rather just make a donation, you can do that, too.
