The Consumer Product Safety Commission recently issued a recall of about 1.7 million Maytag dishwashers due to an electrical failure in the product’s heating unit which can pose a serious fire hazard.
The recall includes a number of Maytag brands, including Maytag®, Amana®, Jenn-Air®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley®.
Consumers who own an affected dishwasher should disconnect the electric supply to the dishwasher. Owners of affected units will receive a free in-home repair to fix the issue or receive a $150 rebate towards purchase of a new model.
