If you find yourself in D.C., be sure to swing by the American Institute of Architects headquarters and check out the new “Neighborhoods Go Green! Scaling up Sustainability” exhibit on display. The U.S. Green Building Council’s latest, the exhibit showcases LEED for Neighborhood Development, a comprehensive benchmark for green neighborhood design.

What makes a LEED Neighborhood besides buzz words like “smart growth,” “new urbanism” and “green building?” Try increased transportation options, reduced urban sprawl, protection of threatened species and increased healthy living. So far one hundred projects across the country have finished at least one stage of the pilot certification program and 75 others have registered for it.

If you get the chance to pop in, let us know what you think of the exhibit.
