The number of LEED-Certified Homes across America has just surpassed the 10,000 mark, according to the U.S. Green Building Council.

The homes in this category include multi- and single-family as well as both market rate and affordable houses.

LEED-Home certification was launched in 2008. Since that time exactly 10,161 homes have been certified. There are currently over 38,000 more on the way. That’s a lot of green building going on across the country.

The lucky 10,000th home was a 91-unit development in Washington, built by Tacoma Housing Authority.

Congrats, USGBC, on reaching this landmark milestone. Let’s hope there are many more such milestones to come, and soon!
