EcoLogo, a third-party eco-labeling program, recently revised its standards for hard surface cleaners. Products within this category seeking to attain the EcoLogo label now must conform to the new standards, which severely limit asthmagens or chemicals known to trigger or aggravate asthma.
The new standards also calls for the exclusion of substances that are harmful to both humans and the environment, including ammonia, formaldehyde and phthalates.
Regular readers of this blog know that cleaning products scare me. I wish everyone would use green cleaning products, especially my gym, where spray bottles of grey-green cleaner hang from every post, ready to fill the air with foulness and toxins.
