About 2,700 Hydro-Gear hydrostatic lawn tractors were recently called due to a crash hazard. A drive gear in the lawn tractor’s hydrostatic transaxle can fail, causing the brake failure, which can pose a crash hazard to consumers.

So far there have been no reports of injuries.

Three different mower brands were involved in the recall: Cub Cadet, MTD Gold and Troy-Bilt. To get the model numbers of the recalled brands, go to the CPSC recall page.

Consumers should stop using the recalled lawn tractors and contact Hydro-Gear for instructions on securing a repair from an authorized service provider.
