If a tropical storm or hurricane warning is issued, take the following precautions: Shutter or board up all windows; bring in all outdoor furniture and objects that might become wind-borne and endanger neighboring property; secure any sliding windows or doors with by bracing the tracks to prevent uplift; anchor any boats or mobile homes to reduce the possibility of movement during the storm; prepare for power outages by closing off unused rooms, conserving heat, and powering down computer systems.

Be sure to test your back up generator every year, especially prior to the cold seasons when it is imperative it work. Also check the oil level, spark plug and fuel filter as prescribed by the owner’s manual.
