ITT Water Technology and the Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced the recall of about 21,000 of the company’s sump pumps due to an electrocution hazard. When the products are installed without ground fault circuit interruptor (GFCI) protection, electric shock or electrocution can occur when the product is handled.

The pumps are sold as Goulds, Red Jacket and Bell & Gossett Pumps. Consumers who suspect that their plugged-in pump may be affected are advised not to touch the unit, any water around it or the surrounding floor area. Rather, such consumers should call ITT Water Technology toll-free at (866) 325-4204 and have a technician sent to the home to deal with the unit.

More information on the recall can be found on the CPSC recall page and at the company’s website at www.goulds.com, www.redjacketwaterproducts.com and www.bellgossett.com.
