Garage Towels

The next time you’re at the store, pick up an extra paper towel holder. When you get home, install it in the front section of your garage and insert a roll of towels. The towels will be accessible and handy for checking the oil in your vehicles and other quick clean-ups. The holder will also help you avoid fumbling with loose rolls or searching out rags.

Storing Gasoline

Gasoline is one of the most flammable liquids there is. Its vapors are completely invisible, very heavy, and will secretly travel like a snake from room to room. Keep this container in your garage (detached is preferred) or an outside storage building.

Trailer Hook-Up

When hooking up a trailer, instead of connecting the trailer’s safety chains directly to the hook in front of it on the vehicle, cross them. Put the chain from the right side of the tongue to the hook on the left side of the hitch. Likewise, put the other chain onto the hook on the right side of the hitch. That way, should the trailer come unhitched, the tongue and coupler will land on the crossed chains instead of skidding on the road.
