I’ve got to add on to yesterday’s blog—Many people in Chicago can now mow their roofs. Okay you are thinking: “Why would I ever want to mow my roof?” Spinning blades, a 60-degree angle and at temperatures approaching wicked hot… Well commercial and apartment buildings built with flat roofs are eligible to participate in a grant program to green up their roofs. And these are not nickels and dimes, we are talking serious cash up to $5000.00. Without the grant it already makes good sense (energy savings, reduced runoff, longer roof life expectancy), but with the grant it’s common cents. So when you check the Chicago Skyline and look up you may see green.
