I’ve never been much of a fan of leaf blowers. They always struck me as a rather noisy solution to a minor problem. Some of the older models are as soothing as chainsaws. But today I read about another problem with them. According to a government air quality management agency in California, an old model leaf blower will emit as much smog-forming pollution as 80 cars, each driven 12,500 miles, in a year of use. Whoa, that’s a lot of smoke! If you care about the environment, do your part and upgrade your old leaf blower to a newer model, they run both cleaner and more quietly than older versions. Better yet—grab a rake!
