Silicon Valley in California has got two things in abundance; sunlight and high technology. So combining the two should be regarded as the perfect marriage. In late 2006, Silicon Valley superstar Google launched their solar power initiative and have now completed 90 percent of the 9,212 panel installation. When completed, it will be the largest solar panel bank on a corporate building in the United States, covering the roofs of eight buildings on the main campus. The project will power approximately 30 percent of Google’s peak energy demand of the solar-powered buildings and they are excited about it. They’ve set up a Web page that documents the project with pictures and updated information on the power being generated. In the past 24 hours, they’ve generated enough power to accomodate 2,468 loads of laundry.
