After a brief marriage filled with conspicuous consumption, one 30-something divorced woman decided to downsize to living simply in a floating home. Unmoored.net is the name of “Steph’s” blog in which she chronicles, in a somewhat haphazard fashion, the conversion of a boathouse into a 600-square-foot floating home in Portland, Ore. Floating homes are built on a raft-like system called a “float” and hers sits in a marina 20 minutes outside of downtown Portland. It’s quite a switch from the life of a jet-setter, but it looks pretty pleasant to me.
