McMansions are out. Small and Eco are in. Just what does that look like? The Daily Green put up a nice slideshow featuring small, eco-friendly homes that demonstrate what is possible in a sustainable, sub-2,500 square foot living.

When it comes to homes, the definition of “small” will vary from person to person. I watched a recent news spot about 500 square foot apartments in Cambridge selling for around $250,000. That’s small.

2500 feet doesn’t seem terribly small to me. But I suppose if we’re talking about a family of 4, it can feel cramped if the home hasn’t been designed thoughtfully.

On the other hand, the 70 square foot “Watershed House” is hardly a primary residence. I don’t think if it could pass for a deer camp.

Which is your favorite?
