I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve only just watched my first episode of the Ben Heck Show, an element14-sponsored show in which the host — born Benjamin J. Heckendorn — turns average household products and technology into convenient solutions.
The most recent episode saw Heck come up with a solution to a problem we’ve all faced: We’re never home when a package that requires our presence is delivered, so we end up having to go to the shipping hub to pick it up. Heck’s solution is to use an Android-powered smartphone to configure his door buzzer to be remotely controlled from anywhere.
Sure, this technology exists in plug-n-play devices, but it’s way cooler to see a guy mod it on his own.
