Living in the Green Mountain State I see a lot of log splitters in the yards of rural and semi-rural dwelling folk. I hope they don’t own the Changzhou Globe Tool Electric Log Splitter, which has recently been recalled due to a laceration and amputation hazard.

The 20,000 recalled units were sold exclusively at Lowe’s. The electric log splitter has a hydraulic arm that, during use, slides under the handle used to move the machine. The moving hydraulic arm on the recalled units poses a laceration or amputation hazard to those who place their hands on the handle when the splitter is in operation.

There have been two reports of injuries so far. One individual had a fingertip amputated and another had a finger laceration.

Consumers who own the recalled log splitter should contact Changzhou Globe Tool Group for a free set of warning labels. Go to the CPSC recall page for contact information.
