It’s no surprise that Philadelphia is the first city in the U.S. to adopt a state-of-the-art heat loss detection technology to help combat high utility costs.

Already established in the UK, the HeatSeeker by Mark Group uses “award-winning thermal imaging technology” to detect where a home is losing heat. That information can then be used by the homeowner to properly seal and insulate and reduce utility costs.

Since it’s inception in 2009 in the UK, HeatSeekers have identified close to one million homes with preventable heat loss. Over 45,000 insulation improvements have been made as a result of HeatSeekers, resulting in over 28,000 tons of CO2 and $8.3 million saved.

It’s all part of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter’s plan to be the greenest city in America.
