The Occupy movement has a new target — homelessness. An offshoot group called Occupy Our Homes has launched a campaign to call attention to the rise in homelessness due to the foreclosure crisis.

This article on Treehugger goes into greater detail about the spin-off group, which marched through a Brooklyn neighborhood last Thursday and took a “foreclosure-tour” around the block to check out all the foreclosed homes and check in with their displaced owners.

The group aims to highlight what seems like a cut and dry issue: the ranks of homeless is swelling well into the thousands and almost just as many homes are sitting vacant.

It will be interesting to see if this version of Occupy has some success, given a very specific goal.
